How do people subscribe to my AddEvent calendar in Outlook?
In Outlook, subscribers open your calendar subscribe link, which automatically prompts Outlook to add the calendar feed. All events sync immediately and update automatically when you add or change events.
Subscribing to an AddEvent calendar in Outlook takes about 30 seconds and works the same way in both Outlook desktop and Outlook on the web.
How it works for your subscribers
- You share your AddEvent calendar's Subscribe link — a URL that ends in
.icsor includes a subscription feed parameter - The subscriber clicks the link while Outlook is open (or set as their default calendar app)
- Outlook shows a prompt: "Add this calendar?" — they click yes
- Every event on your calendar appears immediately in their Outlook calendar
- When you add, edit, or cancel events, Outlook pulls the update automatically — typically within a few hours
Where to find your subscribe link
In your AddEvent dashboard:
- Open the calendar you want to share
- Go to Sharing or Calendar Settings
- Copy the Subscribe / iCal link
Outlook desktop (Windows and Mac)
In Outlook desktop, subscribers can also add the calendar manually:
- Outlook on Windows: File → Account Settings → Account Settings → Internet Calendars tab → New → paste the URL
- Outlook on Mac: File → New Calendar Subscription → paste the URL
Outlook on the web (Office 365 / Microsoft 365)
- Go to outlook.office.com
- Click the Calendar icon
- Click Add calendar → Subscribe from web
- Paste the AddEvent subscribe link → click Import
How often does Outlook sync?
Outlook typically syncs external calendar subscriptions every few hours. The sync interval is controlled by Outlook and Microsoft — it is not adjustable from the AddEvent side. For time-sensitive updates, subscribers can force a manual refresh by right-clicking the calendar in Outlook and selecting Refresh.
Does it work with Microsoft 365 (Exchange)?
Yes. The AddEvent subscription link is a standard iCal (.ics) feed, which is supported by all versions of Outlook including Microsoft 365, Exchange, Outlook.com, and Outlook desktop on Windows and Mac.
